Study Offline with On-Device AI: Coming Soon to CramEasy

One of the biggest barriers to studying isn't motivation. It's connectivity. Data runs out. Networks drop. School buildings have thick walls and weak signal. And a study app that needs the internet to work is useless in exactly those moments.

That's why we're building CramEasy Offline - AI study tools that run entirely on your device, with no internet connection at all.

What offline mode does

When it launches, offline mode will let you use CramEasy's AI study tools without any connection:

• Ask questions and get answers from an AI model running on your own phone
• Generate flashcards and quizzes from your material, offline
• Study your notes anywhere, with no data cost and no dropped connections
• No waiting on a network that may not be there when you need it

The AI runs on your device itself. Once your material is there, everything works - on a bus with no signal, in a lecture hall with thick walls, or at home when the data has run out.

Why this matters for students

For students across Nigeria and much of Africa, data is a real, recurring cost, and reliable connectivity can't be taken for granted. Offline mode means:

• No more "I'll study when I have data." Your study tools are always available.
• Lower cost. Studying doesn't burn through your data bundle.
• Consistency. Your revision doesn't stop because the network did.

Why this matters for schools

For institutions, offline changes what's possible:

• Study tools that work in low-connectivity classrooms - no dependence on school Wi-Fi that may not exist or may not reach every room.
• Equitable access - students without reliable home internet aren't left behind.
• Predictable costs - no per-student data assumptions baked into the deployment.

One thing to know: offline material stays on your device

This is different from Hybrid and Premium, which sync your material through the cloud so it's available on any device you sign in on. It's a natural trade-off of true offline study: everything stays on your device, private and connection-free, but it doesn't travel between devices. If you switch phones often, Hybrid or Premium will suit you better.

A note on device requirements

Running an AI model on a device takes real hardware. Offline mode will require Android 11 or newer, or iOS 16 or newer, with at least 3GB of RAM. On mobile devices, both the Offline and Hybrid tiers use the on-device AI model. If your device doesn't meet these requirements, our cloud-powered plans give you the full CramEasy experience - and your subscription follows your account, so you can use it on any supported device you sign in on.
